Alot of information is centred around the processes for our India visa centre.

If you are visiting India using either your tourist or business visa, then it is important to remember that in the event of an emergency of event, you have them as your aid. Below are points on specific circumstances on what to do:

I have lost my passport with its India visa inside it – what can I do?

Its not the end of the world. You must travel to the British mission or high commission nearest to you, and inform them. They will then cancel your existing passport and India visa, and then issue you with a smaller new one. This will allow you to either return to the UK or to continue your travels onto your next destinations. They can also provide you with emergency cash if you have had that amount lost as well

I have been a victim of a crime and need support?

You will be supported when contacting the police. You will have access to councillors and emergency means to contact your home in the UK. You can also ask for assistance if you have been imprisoned and need support that way. Emergency cash is available also. India visa holders should note that there is a main embassy in Delhi, and with smaller consulates in 5 different cities in India.

One of my family members is critical abroad and I need to get to them?

Most people, in emergencies use their own travel methods, however if you have a sick or injured relative and wish to avoid red tape, then you can contact the foreign office. They will provide whatever assistance and contacts they have in order to provide faster and more effective measures. This can often prove to be critical in such situations. However please note, that it is up to the Indian embassy whether they can grant an India visa immediately, or by pass the entire processes. Much of the decision making is out of the British consulates hands, however they can pass you to the right people.

I am trying to establish business connections abroad and need help?

You can contact the trade department of the respective embassy and they will put you in contact with local suppliers, trade links and organisation in order to facilitate you. Increased trade is beneficial for the UK, and there are robust channels in place to make this an easy process.

For further information on this subject or how to get an India visa, then you can contact our offices.

As apart of our travel services bulletins, we are providing information on what to do when travelling the world.
