The first requirement for getting an India Visa is a valid passport. The passport must have a minimum validity of six months and above. The minimum number of blank pages that your passport must have to get an India Visa issued is two. There has to be two photographs of passport size. The more recent the photograph the better it is. Next you would need identification in form of driver’s license or identity issued by state in form of water or electricity bill. Any documents that are going to be used as such identification must contain the full name and current place of address of the applicant. There can be a chance that the applicant’s name has changed in recent past due to marriage; in that case a copy of the marriage certificate has to be made available in order to be issued an Indian Visa.

Besides photo-identity and address proof, your age has to be established too. For this purpose a Birth Certificate is also needed. The format of the Birth Certificate has to be such that the nationality of both parents of the applicant can be determined from it. In case it is not available then a Govt authorized document having all the particulars of a long-form birth certificate must be produced.
