Requirements for Indian Visa application

For every India visa application to get through, an applicant must supply all necessary details, documents and evidences where applicable. Here are some of the mandatory requirements:

  • Application form: It is a must that every India visa seeker completes a given form giving exact details on all requests. All fields must be filled; counterfeited information will not be accepted.
  • Visa fees: This is normally charged as per category. A person obtaining a visa to India for the purpose of study may not be charged the same as one on a business trip.
  • Travel passports: Must provide a passport with over six months before expiry.
  • Passport photos for your India visa: Individual coloured passport size photos must be provided. The Indian visa administrators will only request for two photos in most cases.
  • Letter of consent: Its format varies from one category to the other. In cases of a Journalist Indian visa, an applicant must attach a letter with details of the programmes to undertake. In the case of a job visa to India, a copy of the signed contractual agreement is attached. Applicants applying for business India visa cards must also attach a document with details the venture type and intended period of visit.
  • Invitation letter for your India visa: This normally applies to business, meetings and research related trips. The tourist must present a letter from the Indian institution(s) he/she is going to visit with details on purpose and period length.
  • For all media related Indian visa applications, the seeker must attach a written letter to avow that he or she will be in India only for the dedicated purpose and not personal deals.
  • Students applying for India visa must submit a copy of the institution’s entrance form with clear indications of the course length. They should attach the school’s bona fide letter, receipts/invoices of fees paid/payable and scholarship details if any.
  • Proof of emergency is required in urgent visa to India applications. A medical doctor or the health institution is relied on in case of chronic illnesses or death. The applicant is required to present the death certificate afterwards.
  • Certificates of marriage or birth may also be required in matters of long term visa transfers. This gives prove of origin of spouses or other close relations.
  • A proof of origin for OCI/PIO and entry visa to India cases is a mandatory requirement.
  • Health and health escort India visa applicants must provide a doctor’s signed letter explaining the complication.
